DESCRIPTION

» Curettage of the uterus.

• Curettage is the use of medical equipment through the vagina and cervix in cases where a child enters the uterine cavity. To use a method to stop the bleeding in the case of miscarriage and the uterine wall develops abnormally and causes excessive bleeding.
• The main purposes of scraping are twofold: for diagnosis and for treatment.

» D&C can be categorized into two main types:

1. Cervical dilatation examination combined with cervical curettage (Dilatation and Curettage)
2. Fractional Curettage: As for general curettage, Can be done without having to stay in the hospital.

» D&C is performed for two primary reasons:

• Diagnostic scraping in non-pregnant women with abnormal vaginal bleeding is divided into two sub-cases:
  1. Case 1 (Women who are older than or equal to 40 years old and have symptoms of heavy vaginal bleeding. or flakes appear during the menstrual cycle or the bleeding does not occur in normal cycles)
  2. Case 2 (Women who have already gone through menopause But there was blood coming back from the vagina)
  3. D&C can be performed for therapeutic reasons in pregnant women due to miscarriage, particularly in cases of incomplete miscarriage. Sometimes, non-pregnant women under 40 years old who experience severe abnormal uterine bleeding (vaginal bleeding) that cannot be stopped with medication may also require a D&C to stop the bleeding. Examples include abnormal uterine lining or other uterine cavity abnormalities.

» Why do women need to have a D&C? 

• Curettage of the uterus (to diagnose disease and abnormalities that occur When uterine bleeding or in cases where there is a risk of abnormal endometrial cells)
• Curettage of the uterus (to treat diseases such as in the case of pregnant mothers who have a blocked pregnancy or placental tumor formation in the womb, treated in the case of a legal abortion or when the mother has a miscarriage Must have uterine curettage to ensure that no tissue remains)

» Is D&C not dangerous, but does it pose a risk of complications?

1. Infection or bleeding from the vagina
2. Cervical damage
3. Fibrosis in the uterine cavity
4. Perforated uterus
