DESCRIPTION

» The dengue vaccine helps protect against infection from the dengue virus.

  • The objective is to prevent dengue fever, which is caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.

» Types of Vaccines:" or "Vaccine Categories:

  • Dengvaxia (CYD-TDV) is used for children aged 9-16 years who have had a previous dengue infection.
  • Qdenga (TAK-003) is a new vaccine that can be used in individuals who have never had a previous infection (it is already being used in some countries).

» The number of doses is as follows:

  • Dengvaxia: 3 doses, with each dose administered 6 months apart.
  • Qdenga: 2 doses, with each dose administered 3 months apart.

» Precautions

  • Dengvaxia should not be used in individuals who have never had a previous infection, as it may increase the risk of severe disease if they contract the virus later.

» Influenza Vaccine

  • The objective is to prevent influenza, which is caused by the Influenza virus (types A and B).
