DESCRIPTION
» Pterygium Surgery.
- This is a condition where the conjunctiva (the clear membrane covering the white part of the eye) thickens and grows onto the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye). It usually starts from the inner corner of the eye and grows towards the pupil, appearing as a "white or pinkish tissue" that gradually extends. It's often seen in people exposed to sunlight, wind, dust, or dryness for extended periods. If left untreated, the pterygium can obstruct vision or distort the cornea, leading to permanent astigmatism.
